Jadran Duncumb

 

 

 

Born in Sheffield in 1989, Jadran began to play the guitar at the age of 8. Moving to Norway in 1999, he was admitted to the “Young Talents” section of Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt in 2002, where he was taught by Vegard Lund. He also had weekly lessons with Prof. Sven Lundestad at the Norwegian Academy of Music from 2006.

 

Jadran is a multiple prize-winner at the Norwegian Music Competitions for Youth, having won 1st prizes in both the guitar and duet classes  with his pianist brother, Emil. In 2008, he was a finalist in Norwegian television’s “Virtuos” concerto competition, performing with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, as well as winning the “Strings” category in the BBC Young Musician of the Year.

 

Jadran has given concerts all over Norway and Europe, performing in venues such as Cheltenham Town Hall, King's Place, Oslo Konserthus, Quen Elizabeth Hall and Wigmore Hall where his recital was broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Recent engagements have included concertos with the London Mozart Players and Orpheus Sinfonia as well as recitals for MusicAncona, Italy and the Trigonale Festival in Austria.

 

Jadran regularly gives concerts with his brother to great acclaim. Together they have performed in festivals including “Olavsfestdagene” in Trondheim, Norway, the “Victoria International Arts Festival”  in Malta, and in venues such as Wigmore Hall and King‘s Place in London. He also frequently performs with Jun Sasaki (cello) in Duo DixCordes, gambist Claire Bracher, tenor Chris Jacklin and the Royal Consort of Viols.

 

Also in demand as a continuo player, he has appeared  ensembles including I Fagiolini, International Baroque Players and the English Baroque Soloists.  Recent performances have included the Monteverdi Vespers at the BBC Proms  under John Eliot Gardiner and a concert with the International Baroque Players and Emma Kirkby in the Brighton Early Music Festival. Coming events include concerts in the London Handel, Brecon Baroque and Trigonale festivals as well as performances with Galan, RCM Baroque Orchestra and the International Baroque Players - with whom he will also be making a recording for the German label Raumklang.

 

Jadran was awarded a scholarship at the Royal College of Music in London, where he currently studies the classical guitar with Gary Ryan, and theorbo with Jakob Lindberg.
